How do I check that a bank account belongs to the right organisation?
I need to transfer about £10,000 to an estate agency. They've given me their sort and account number. How can I check this is the right account and not the estate agents personal account or an incorrect number?

they will have given you the Bank as well (I hope) - ie nat west etc, contact them and explain the situation. Alternatively explain your concerns to the estate agent - they should have proof of account detials there.
