You can not have the best & free, but, there is a free one called gnucash, and turbocash the best for small business are quickbooks, & peachtree, if you get the most basic system w/ discounts it really is worth it, you can call or e-mail both companies w/ questions about the software, let them know you are shopping & you will get a great price.
